FAQs on entering and participating in the Piccadilly Circus Games Competition
If your question is not covered, please just ask on the Autonity Discord Server.
How do I raise questions about the Piccadilly Circus Games Competition?
Questions about the competition should be raised in the game channel on the Autonity Discord Server. Channels are moderated so you can be sure of an answer from the Autonity team or a community member!
Why do round tasks have such different point and reward allocations?
A higher reward allocation to an award reflects the cost of participation for an entrant - for example, the OpEx of running a node and keeping it online, the development effort of building and testing a submission for a developer tooling or decentralised use case award.
Round tasks vary in complexity and the points for successfully completing an individual task reflect that: the greater the difficulty, the higher the points.
Can I participate in more than one game award category?
Yes! There are different categories to make the Piccadilly Circus Games Competition as inclusive as possible, but if you have many hats (a hacker/designer who wants to run a node), that’s awesome, and it would be great to see you join multiple game categories. You can enter for any award category in any round of the game!
What is the “participant account”?
The “participant account” is the Autonity account address you provided when registering for the game (see Rule Game registration and Resources Entry Form Index for the form).
The game assumes you will use this address for all testnet interactions.
The game will use this address for: (a) funding operations if an award task requires this, and (b) scoring award tasks that require transaction submission. For example, registering a validator or transferring value between accounts.
Transactions submitted to game Testnet(s) by an address that is not a registered participant account are ignored by game scoring and will not score points!
What account address do I use to submit transactions in the On-chain awards?
You must always use the participant account you provided in the game registration form (see Rule Game registration and Resources Entry Form Index for the form).
Can I reset the password I provided in the game registration form?
You can reset your password after registration using the Password reset form. Just provide your username and email address.
Can I reset the email address I provided in the game registration form?
You can reset your email after registration using the Email reset form. Just provide your username, the new email address, and provide a signature using your participant account private key.
What if I report a software bug that also requires a change to the docs? Will that be counted as BUG
or DOCUMENTATION
or both?
In this case you will need to report the bug twice, submitting an entry for the BUG
and an entry for the DOCUMENTATION
change.
Likewise, if you report a (genuine) bug in Autonity that prevents you from integrating with your favourite tool, you will need to submit 2 bug reports: one for the BUG
and one for the INTEGRATION
issue.
What if I report a bug in between game rounds?
Bug reports can be submitted at any time between the game’s start and end dates. Bugs submitted in and between game rounds will be triaged by the same process as described in the Bug Bounty Synopsis.
Can I register and operate multiple validator nodes in the game?
No. Each game participant can only register one validator node.
Can I register and operate multiple public RPC nodes in the game?
No. Each game participant can only register one public RPC node.
Can I win a scoreboard judged “Top 20” award in more than 1 round?
Yes. If at the end of a game round you are in the scoreboard’s top 20 when judged, you are eligible for the award irrespective of whether you have already won a top 20 prize in a previous round or not.
